Mini Used Cars- It's Back and Has a Retro Look to it

Mini used cars are a very hard vehicle to lay your hands on now a day’s, most people who want to buy them are having a harder time purchasing them because they never stay for sale long. The Mini and other vehicles like the Beetle and Mustang came back to life in 2002. When looking at the Mini, you see a retro past to it and if it wasn’t for the German automaker BMW, we wouldn’t see them at all. The New Mini has some things in common with its older models, like the size of the vehicle (even thou the newer Mini is bigger) and handling on the road.

Mini Cooper used cars:
BMW decided to have two Mini’s, the Cooper and the Cooper S. Both vehicles used a 1.6-litre, four cylinder engine. The Cooper had 115 horsepower under the hood and the Cooper S was using a 163 horsepower engine. The Cooper had a five-speed manual transmission and the Cooper S used a six-speed manual shifter. In 2005 BMW decided it wanted to add a less expensive Mini to the fleet, so they added the Cooper Classic to the line up.

Mini used cars like the Cooper are great in fuel economy. The Mini Cooper’s fuel stats are 8.5-litre/100km for city driving and 6-litre/100km for highway driving. The Cooper S has a fuel rating of 9.5-litre/100km for city driving and 6.5-litre/100km for highway driving. The increase in fuel economy for the Cooper S was due to the horsepower increase in its engine. Also even thou you have great fuel statistics for both Mini’s, both Cooper’s require the best premium gasoline for both engines.

Let’s talk about some pros and cons of the Mini Cooper.

1- In 2004 the Mini Cooper S received four stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for driver and front passenger protection, in a frontal impact test.

2- Also in 2004 the Mini Cooper received a “good’ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This was for a frontal impact test as well.

3- In 2005 the Mini added new door hinges and a better body design for protection for people sitting in the back.

4- The Mini has been known to have problems with the steering pumps.

5- Problems with rust in the doors and this may result in water getting into the vehicle.

6- Problems with stalling engines.

I hope this helps you if you’re interested in buying a used Mini Cooper and before purchasing your next vehicle make sure to bring it to a trusted mechanic
